Kaladex®

Kaladex® is a brand of polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) film manufactured by Mylar® Specialty Films (formerly DuPont Teijin Films™) designed for harsh environment applications and filling the performance gap between polyester PET films and high-performance polyimide films. Similar to other polyester films, Kaladex® PEN films have good dielectrics, chemical resistance, and handling properties but also have many superior properties to polyester PET including:

• Strong heat resistance
• UV screening under 380 nm
• Moisture & oxygen barrier
• High dimensional stability
• Mechanical strength
• Anti-hydrolysis & alkali resistance
• Low oligomer extraction

Kaladex® PEN films are ideal for electrical insulation applications in high temperature environments, such as automotive batteries and fuel cells, solar cells, flat flexible cables, flexible printed circuitry, motors, capacitors, and transformers. Standard and lower shrink versions are both offered through Tekra as an Authorized Distributor of Mylar® Specialty Films (formerly DuPont Teijin Films™).

• Kaladex® 2000 – uncoated, standard PEN film
• Kaladex® 2000L – uncoated, annealed PEN film with reduced shrinkage
• Kaladex® 2021L – one-side print treated, annealed PEN film with reduced shrinkage
