Flame Retardant (FR) Polycarbonate Films

LEXAN and VALOX films are excellent candidates to help deliver innovative design solutions that are founded upon cost-effective fabrication and high performance in harsh environments.  From simple flat barrier insulation to highly complex three-dimensional EMI/RFI shielding, these films provide the right balance of flame retardant and electrical properties without the use of secondary operations.  FR films are available in a variety of surface textures and offer easy formability and dimensional stability at high temperatures.  All Sabic flame retardant films have been tested and recognized by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for flammability.  Typical applications include heat/dielectric insulation, die-cut insulators and spacers, labels and overlays, and printed circuit boards.

Eco Flame Retardant (EFR) Polycarbonate Films

EFR films are environmentally responsible and UL compliant to enable electrical/electronics OEMs to go beyond current environmental directives.  In addition to providing the same UL compliance as Sabic’s FR films, EFR films deliver non-brominated, non-chlorinated flame retardant performance at various gauge ranges.  These films eliminate halogenated additives while meeting the requirements of the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE 2006) directives.  Potential applications include heat/dielectric shielding and insulation barriers, die-cut insulators and spacers, printed circuit boards for desktops and servers, and battery packs and adaptors for consumer electronics.
