Static Control for Polyester Film
Static control in a web handling process can prevent debris attraction, shock hazard, improper wet out of coatings and inks, and other problems. While static charges can be moderated by increasing the relative humidity of the air in the processing environment. There are also several devices available for eliminating static on polyester films, including:

• Induction neutralizers, which are passive devices such as tinsel or wire brushes, placed in close proximity to the polyester film and neutralize static charges.
• Nuclear neutralizer units that produce positive and negative ions to neutralize static electricity by using the radioactive decay of the isotope polonium (Po 210).
• Powered neutralizers, which are powered by AC or DC current and placed in close proximity to the polyester film to neutralize static charges by producing positive and negative ions.
