Embossing Polyester Film
Polyester films from DuPont Teijin Films provide excellent strength, durability and appearance for graphic and tactile layers of membrane switches when key embossing parameters are monitored:

• Platen dishing, which can lead to a series of high and low areas in embossed parts, occurs in the centers of platens following many forceful cycles.
• Leading edge pre-strike can occur when platens are misaligned. This can be prevented by securing, leveling and balancing the press.
• Temperature variations across platens can result from age, and can cause inconsistent embossing.
• Processing conditions that require attention include heating of both platen and polyester film to specifications, and pressing for an extended multi-dwell rather than a constant dwell.
• Die specifications, which should be carefully followed when embossing polyester films.
